Ag Caint Agus Ag Gabháil Fhionn: with Lillis Ó Laoire and Róisín Seoighe

22 September 7:00pm - Loughrea Library H62 EV61

Professor Lillis Ó Laoire (University of Galway) and well-known musician Róisín Seoighe will be with us this year for a bilingual celebration of sean-nós singing, traditional music, and our Gaelic culture as part of Culture Night, 2023.

Lillis is a well-known singer originally from Donegal who won the sean-nós world’s biggest prize, the Corn Uí Riada, at the 1994 Oireachtas na Samhna. Not only is Lillis well known for his singing, but he has made a name for himself over the years as a folklorist, educator, researcher, and writer also.

Róisín Seoighe is a musician, composer, singer, and dancer from Connemara in County Galway. Róisín started her musical career as a sean-nós singer and traits of sean-nós singing can still be heard in the various genres of her music. It is Róisín’s aim to mix different styles of music together in a way that has never been heard before, particularly in Irish.

Gaeilge Locha Riach invites you all along to Loughrea Library to be with us on a very special night.

Tickets available here.
